Found on the crown of a hill with good views in all directions, inside Rathcanning fort (COO66-01001-). A lump of stone (9in; 4in x 4in), read by Macalister (1945, 82, no. 80) as bearing the end of an M and other marks 'not so certainly intended as letters'. This fragment was rescued by him 'from the wall of the ....fort' and is now in the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin (DU018-162----). A second ogham stone (CO066-009----) was implied by Macalister (1945, 82, no. 79) to have come from the souterrain (CO066-01002-) in this fort. However, the earliest account of this stone states that it came from another souterrain S of Rathcanning, closer to where it was found re-used in a farmyard. (Power et al. 1994, no. 4236)
