What is recorded here

Depicted as rectangular ruinous structure (c. 20m E-W; C. 10m N-S) at centre of graveyard (9548) and marked 'Site of church' on 1842 OS 6-inch map; marked 'Church (site of)' on 1904 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps. Low mound (c. 10m E-W; c. 7m N-S) at centre of small triangular field, planted with larch trees survives. According to Hartnett (1934, 290) 'a low mound about 30 feet by 20 feet oriented E.-W. is pointed out as the site of the building'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
