Large stone (2.5m; 0.4m x 0.3m) discovered in 1872 during ploughing of a field, later set up as a gate post (Brash 1879, 160-1); according to farmer, formed lintel in possible long cist grave (7946). Purchased by Royal Irish Academy (Quarry 1896, 382) and now in collection of National Museum of Ireland (see DU018-366----). Macalister (1945, 116-8, no. 118) gave the inscription as VEQREQ MUCOI GLUNLEGGET, but considered that it had 'passed through a series of vicissitudes, all of which have left scars upon its surface' (ibid., 116).
