What is recorded here

In pasture, on W side of stream; no visible surface trace of structure marked 'site of Chapel', in field named 'Chapel Field', on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Rock outcrop c. 200m to S named 'Shepealcorvigeendonnell' on OS 6-inch map which O'Donoghue (1986, 277) gives as 'Seipeal Carragin Domhnaill - chapel of Donnell's little rock'. Otherwise nothing seems to be known of the site. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
