What is recorded here

In pasture, on break in N-facing slope. Roughly circular area (34m E-W; 30m N-S) enclosed by scarp (H 1.4m) NE->SW; straight stone field boundary to SSE; low grass-covered stone bank (int. H 0.6m) S->NNW, topped by later stone field boundary; slight fall of ground NNW->NE. Gap (Wth 2.8m) to SE into interior. Interior raised on NE side to compensate for hillslope. Adjoining site NNW->NE is semicircular extension (17m N-S; 19m E-W) defined by scarp formed by rock outcrop and some stone facing. According to Hartnett (1939,47) 'known locally as lios or lisheen'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
