What is recorded here

Roughly circular field pattern (diam. c 120m) shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map enclosing children's burial ground (9340) which is located in SE quadrant. Field pattern changed by 1903 OS 6-inch map. O'Donughue (1986, 226) translated Kilboultragh as 'Cill Boultragh - Church of the mud mortar or mud mixture'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
