In tillage, on gradual W-facing slope. Area of site shows a number of low undulations and concentrations of stony soil, but no discernable pattern could be seen on the ground. According to Power (1923, 194) 'a castle of Barrymore's'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
