What is recorded here

In pasture, atop knoll. Depicted on 1936 OS 6-inch map immediately to S of souterrain (CO054-021002-). McCarthy (1977, 179) records 'stone standing upright in field where entrance to site (souterrain CO054-021002-) was located'. No visible surface trace. Levelled circular enclosure (CO054-021001-) noted in aerial photograph (CASAP) surrounds both standing stone and souterrain. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
