What is recorded here

Discovered during construction work associated with the N8 Glanmire-Watergrasshill Bypass and excavated in 2001. Excavation revealed a spread (11m E-W; 4m N-S; D 0.25m) of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil which had been truncated by drainage works; no evidence of a trough or hearth survived. (Sherlock 2003h, 50) The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
