What is recorded here

According to Macalister (1945, 63) Windele noted 'quadrangular tumulus with an uninscribed stone at each angle' 125 feet S of levelled rectangular enclosure (CO052-03902-) with souterrain (CO052-03904-) to its NW. Tumulus 'opened in 1839 without result' (ibid.). Site not located. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
