What is recorded here

Discovered in 1845 when a souterrain (CO050-045002-) was uncovered in a ringfort (CO050-045001-) and later purchased by the antiquarian John Windele (Macalister 1945, 102-3, no. 103). Macalister (ibid.) read the inscription as CARRTTACC GAQI MU CAGG[I]; McManus (1991, 65; 2004, 14-15, no. 1) read the second word as MMAQI. The stone (1.42m x 0.38m x 0.1m, converted from Macalister 1945) is now part of the collection of University College Cork (see CO074-145----). (Power et al. 1997, no. 7954) Compiled by: Nora White Date of upload: 20 January 2016
