What is recorded here

In pasture, in commanding position. Circular, saucer-shaped raised area (diam. 42m) defined by shallow fosse with external bank (H 2.4m). Outer bank field-fence-like for much of its circumference. Hartnett (1939, 206) noted 'entrance was to the E, as is evidenced by a dip in the inner (levelled) bank at this point'. Levelled in 1984. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
