What is recorded here

In a young coniferous forest, on a boggy N-facing slope. A roughly oval peat-covered mound (c. 8m N-S; c. 6m E-W; H c. 0.7m) of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil, which had been cut by two drains, was identified in 1995 (Johnson 1998, 102). There were no visible remains of this burnt mound in 2000. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
