What is recorded here

In tillage, below crest of ridge on NE-facing slope, overlooking Ballynoe village. Roughly oval area (42.4m WSW-ENE; 36m N-S) defined by damaged earthen bank (H 2.4m), broadly based (Wth 4m). At inner base of bank to W, low terrace-like feature may be due to bank slip. Gaps to ENE, SSW and NE; latter most likely entrance. Interior level, cut into slope to W. Souterrain (CO046-0410o2-) in interior (UCC); no visible surface trace. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
