What is recorded here

In pasture, on the top of a rise. There is a strong local tradition of a church at this location. There are no visible remains of this possible church. The ruins of Barrymore Castle, a fortified house (vol. 2, no. 5593), lie c. 150m to the ESE. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
