C of I church, built in 1770s by Barrymore family who lived in nearby Castlelyons Castle (CO045-004---), was 'completely renovated and restored in 1899' (Cole 1903, 171) and closed in early 1960s. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
