Two spreads of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil were uncovered during testing in advance of the construction of the N8 Rathcormac-Fermoy Bypass. Subsequent excavation in 2003 revealed four linear pits, two shallow small oval pits and a rectangular trough (2.3m x 1.5m; max. D 0.35m) all of which contained heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil in their fills. Slag was recovered from beneath the stones within the trough cut though there was no further obvious evidence of ironworking. Another fulacht fia (CO044-081----) lies c. 50m to the SSW on the opposite side of a stream. (Murphy 2004, 88, Lisnagar Demesne 3; 2006p, 65, Lisnagar Demesne 3)
