What is recorded here

In scrubland on E foothills of Nagles Mountains and c. 200m NE of fulacht fiadh (CO044-002---). Heavily overgrown mound of burnt material. Possibly this is site mentioned by Power (1923, 191) as 'small name-giving (Raheen) lios which stands in mountain surrounding [and] is now nearly destroyed'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
