Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilpadder South

In pasture, with ground rising steeply to S beyond enclosure. Depicted as hachured bivallate enclosure (diam. c. 45m) on 1842, 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps. Northern half of ringfort destroyed due to encroachment of farmyard and buildings. Southern half of interior defined by inner earthen bank (int. H 1.5m; ext. H 1.3m) E->NNW; intervening fosse (D 0.9m) and outer earthen bank (H 0.8m) E->W. Inner bank planted with oak trees and overgrown with bushes and young trees. Intervening fosse partially filled with rubble to S for c. 10m; used as farm laneway to W and SW with bank sides cut back to give greater width. Outer bank broken to S (Wth 4m) and SSW (Wth 4m), giving access to surrounding fields. Shallow external fosse (D 0.2m) noted to SW. Southern half of interior slopes down gently to N; heavily overgrown with weeds and briars, delimited from N half of interior (now farmyard) by linear mound of rubble; souterrain (CO041-07102-) in SE quadrant.
