In pasture, on NE-facing slope, overlookig Crinnaloo River. Roughlycircular area (32m N-S; 28.5m E-W) enclosed by scarp (H 0.85m) N->SE; earthen bank (int. H 1.45m) SE->W with external fosse (D 1.25m). Bankstone-faced in parts. Field boundary running NE-SW truncates enclosure on NW side. Limekiln marked on 1842 OS 6-inch map would have been located approximately at E side of enclosure; no visible surface trace. Slight lipvisible at base of bank due to ploughing of interior. Locally known as fort. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
