What is recorded here

In pasture, on break in S-facing slope. Circular area (34m N-S; 34m E-W) raised 2.8m above level of surrounding land, enclosed by fosse with external bank. Top of platform defined by low rise (max. int. H 0.5m) N->SE. Fosse dry and flat-bottomed (Wth 3m). Outer bank (H 1.3m) 3.5m wide on top; faced externally with stone wall, battered in parts. Possible entrance to SSE where platform has more gradual profile and outer bank replaced by external, stone-faced scarp. Interior planted with coniferous trees; fosse and bank lightly planted. Locally known as "Lissard". The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
