What is recorded here

Shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map as hachured circular enclosure; on 1904 and 1938 maps as circular field (diam. c. 22m). Probably ringfort referred to by Broker (1937, 44) as enclosing 'one eight of an acre'. Arc of stone-faced bank (H 1m) survives N->SE as part of field fence system. Remainder levelled. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
