What is recorded here

Bowman (1934, 663) recorded an underground chamber under site of round tower (CO038-00101-) in field called 'Pairc a Teampaill...the size of the chamber is about 7 feet long 4 feet wide and 5 feet high. The sides are lined with dry stone work. The top is covered with large stone slabs'. No visible surface trace. Within possible early ecclesiastical site (CO038-00105-). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
