What is recorded here

In pasture, at W end of deciduous plantation, on N-facing slope. Roughly circular platform (41m N-S; 38m E-W) raised max. 0.7m above surrounding ground level; enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.6m). Platform most clearly defined W->SE, where raised to compensate for hillslope. Distance of bank from platform varies from 3m to N to 1m on W side; bank merges with edge of platform SE->SW. Linear field boundary replaces bank on E side. Interior slopes gently down to NE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
