In level pasture, in garden of Mallow Castle (14373). Circular brick-lined chamber (diam. 2.5m) covered with domed brick roof (H 1.75m), externally covered with remains of irregular mortared rubble limestone mound; chamber infilled to c. 1m below external ground level. Remains of stone-built entrance passage (L 2.6m; Wth 0.95m) to N. Removed in advance of housing development, September 1997. (Russell 1996, 70-74). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
