Two-storey house; occupied. Entrance front (SE) of 5 bays: central glass porch in front of round-headed door ope; sash windows. Side elevation 3 bays deep. Hipped roof with central valley, two off-centre chimney stacks. Lower 2-storey gable-ended extensions to rear, on either side of tall round-headed stairway window. Grove White (1905-25, vol. 4, 135) has reference to 'front' of house being built in 1852; this date compatible with appearance of entrance front; 1842 OS 6-inch map shows different plan to front of house. However, rear sections may contain core of house built here in which was seat of Richard Newman in 1750 (Smith 1750, vol. 1, 300). Cobbled yard to rear, with date of "1741" outlined in quartz stones. Narrow bridge (14829) in demesne to NE provides pedestrian access to St Senach's Church (14721). Limestone piers at entrance to E, topped with stone eagles and pineapples.
