On W bank of realigned Owenbaun River, originally 150m further to E. Named 'Rath' on 1937 OS 6-inch map and shown as hachured scarp N->S, with second concentric scarp N->E. Site overgrown and used as dump for farmyard manure; area defined to N by stone field boundary, to E by drainage canal and to S by sunken farm trackway. Within site are a number of low earthen banks (H c. 0.6m; Wth c. 2m), partially overgrown and incomplete, which seem to be part of two E-W rectangular structures. According to local tradition, site of church and burial ground. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 357) as 'church site' in Mr McCarthy's land, 'in field called the graveyard. Fence levelled. Site c. 2ft higher than field level...circular. diam. 35yd. mainly grass covered mounds'.
