What is recorded here

In pasture, on gentle N-facing slope of E-W ridge. Circular slightly raised area (28m N-S; 28m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 2m; ext. H 3m); external fosse ENE->NNW. Bank severely eroded to N and NE; break (Wth 4m) to NNW; causewayed entrance (Wth 4m) to ESE. Fosse survives as slight depression ENE->ESE; filled in SSW->WSW because of trackway skirting bank; best preserved to SE and S (D 0.7m; Wth 3m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
