Within the historic town (CO027-042----) of Glanworth, to the SW of 'Rock Abbey' (CO027-040----). Four pits were excavated in advance of a housing development in Boherash townland in 2004. All four pits were situated in trench 1. Only one of the pits was completely excavated, the three other pits were only partially excavated. The pits ranged in diameter from 0.6 to 1.34m and in depth from 0.19 to 0.83m and varied in shape from circular to linear. Because of the lack of datable finds, these pits cannot be assigned to either the medieval or post-medieval phases at the site. (Cleary 2006a; 2007, 87-126) The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
