What is recorded here

Slightly hump-backed road bridge (Wth 7.18m; long axis NE-SW) over River Funshion. Random-rubble limestone construction with ashlar detail. Five semicircular arches, rising gently towards centre (central arch span c. 5.6m); string course over arches. Low bluntly pointed cutwaters on upstream side (NW), shallow flat-fronted projections on downstream piers. Vertical stone coping atop parapet wall, date plaque on W side reads "This bridge was erected by/presentment AD 1820/John Hargraves Architect/John Hyde and Thomas Mountgom/ary Esqis/overseers". The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
