In N half of graveyard (14559). Vacant former C of I parish church of Castlemagner. Church, of random-rubble limestone construction, consists of rectangular nave (long-axis 12.2m E-W), with lean-to vestry along N wall, chancel at E end, and embattled three storey tower (3.7m N-S; 2.5m E-W) at W end. Nave lit by three pointed window opes, with Y-tracery, in S wall; chancel has grouping of three lancet windows in end wall. Tower has pointed door ope with hood moulding, in S-wall. Interior retains some of its fittings, including pulpit, pews, memorial plaques; simple wooden king-post roof. Church built in 1816, capable of accommodating 120 people, on site of earlier church (14405) (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 102); low overgrown walls at SE corner of nave may be remains of earlier church. Church repaired in 1873, and in 1887 vestry added with new heating apparatus, further improvements made in 1900-3 included a new roof and addition of chancel (Cole 1903, 173; Grove-White 1905-25, vol. 2, 117). Rectory 100m to W: 2-storey over basement; front elevation (SE) of 4-bays; hipped roof; built in 1813 (Grove White, ibid.).
