In level pasture, to NE of Castlecor House (14868). Two stumps of masonry stand in dump of field clearance stones; larger stump (1.2m x 2.6m; H 2m) has rectangular ope (1.07m x 0.47m) in centre, possibly portion of chimney shaft (see photograph Grove White 1905-25, vol. 2, opp. 63). According to O'Flanagan (1844, 151), 'the ruins of a monastery yet traceable in the deer-park' of Castlecor House. Bowman (1934, 429) gives monastery as 'Augustinian', but Gwynn and Hadcock (1988, 364) give 'unclassified' designation, and note mention of abbey here in late 13th-century plea roll.
