What is recorded here

Not marked on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps. In pasture, on S-facing slope. Removed from original location (CO023-094001-) c. 1977; now lying beside field fence c. 30m to S. Stone (L 1.5m) is quartzite and irregular in shape. According to Bowman (1934, 408), one of two stones (9897) which landed in position after a pitched battle between two giants.
