In tillage, atop low-lying ridge, which slopes gently down to E; stream short distance to S. Rectangular area (68m E-W; 58m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.2m; ext. H 1.25m). Inner face of bank highest on W and N sides, especially along NW quadrant; bank low on S side (int. H 0.25m; ext. H 1.4m); loose stone on inner face to N and W may be remains of facing. Bank stone-faced externally in parts to S and W. Break in bank at SW corner; cattle gap at N end of E bank (Wth 4m) and at S end of W bank (Wth 3m). Interior slopes gently down to E; planted with beech and oak trees. According to local information, tradition of this fort having an underground chamber.
