What is recorded here

Not marked on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps. Removed; site now occupied by farm buildings. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 408) as measuring '2ft 5in high, 14ft 6in in girth', long axis N-S; one of two stones (9898) which landed in position after a pitched battle between two giants (ibid.). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
