In ringfort (CO023-06001-). Bowman (1934, 191) noted that 'on the east and south sides of the inner rampart, and on the fosse side of it, were Souterrains built into the rampart. These are now practically destroyed. Each formed, approximately, a semicircle, the chord being c. 14ft'. Also in interior of fort on S side, he recorded a 'depression - the site of a souterrain' (ibid.). Ringfort levelled; no visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
