In Newmarket. Cruciform church (long axis E-W with transepts to E). Lit by pointed window opes with switchline tracery; entrance through porch on S transept. Bellcote atop N gable. Galleries in transepts. Built in 1834 on site donated by Richard Aldworth, replacing 18th-century church in Scarteen to N (Allen 1973, 91). Described by Lewis (1837, vol. 2, 428-429) as 'a spacious edifice...the altar...is a copy of that of the ancient abbey at Quin'. Wooden altar replaced in 1931, gallery in nave removed 1969 (Allen ibid.).
