What is recorded here

In pasture, on gentle W-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, with limekiln on NW bank; as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1905 OS 6-inch map; hachured as circular area (diam. c. 25m) enclosed by fosse on 1937 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; slight rise visible in area of site. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 629-30) as single-ramparted fort (diam. 39yd) on Mr O'Callaghan's land, with fosse '10 feet wide and 3 feet deep'; interior raised. Bowman (ibid., 630) also describes two souterrains; one (CO015-02103-) in NE quadrant; second (CO015-02102-) in NW rampart.
