What is recorded here

In forested boggy ground, on gentle S-facing slope. No visible surface trace. Hachured on 1936 OS 6-inch map as mound (diam. c. 7m). Recorded as 'a small mound which some old residents of the district call an Old Fort' (diam. 7yd; H 3ft); section shows mound with sloping sides and flat top (c. 6ft across) (OS Field Memoranda 1933). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
