What is recorded here

In pasture, on break in S-facing slope of Ballyarthur Hill. Square area (48m N-S; 48m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.3m; ext. H 1m) with external flat-bottomed fosse (D 1m). Bank broad based and overgrown; break in bank at SE corner; causewayed entrance approximately midway along E bank. Fosse dry; stream, which may have flooded fosse, on opposite side of field boundary a short distance to W; field fence extending to NE from NW corner of site may represent line of water course which conducted water from larger stream c. 80m to E of site. Interior level and grass-covered. Listed by Barry (1981, 82, no. 3). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
