What is recorded here

In forestry nursery, one of three graves (CO008-01201-; CO008-01203-) found close together by workmen in 1978. Grave was 'uncovered as a deposit of cremated bone 2m SW of cist [CO008-01201-]...a number of large stones were scattered around the bones indicating the burial had probably been enclosed by a cist' (Doody 1986, Cork No. 5). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
