In pasture, on N-facing slope. Spring well, enclosed by low stone walling E->W from which stream flows to N; heavily overgrown. Not in holy use; according to landowner, it was visited in May and cured stomach upsets and sore eyes. According to Dunworth (1989, 56), 'rounds' were paid all year round especially on Good Friday. Name derives from the 'Bachall Íosa, Christ's staff' which was reputedly given to St Patrick by Christ and became one of the validating insignia of the Archbishops of Armagh (Harbison 1991, 56, 159).
