What is recorded here

In marshy ground, on S side of stream. Oval mound of burnt material (21.9m N-S; 17.3m E-W; H 1.6m) incorporating two horseshoe-shaped mounds within its perimeter, one to W and one to E. East mound (L 7.5m; Wth 8m; H 0.7m) has opening facing N. West mound is larger and has opening facing SE. Recent digging noted at site in December 1996. One of a group of four fulachta fiadh (10579, 10580, 10587). Ring-barrow (11837) immediately to N on opposite side of stream. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
