In graveyard (14622) to S of church (14455); within early ecclesiastical enclosure (13892). Two upright stones noted by Henderson and Okasha (1992, 7) as 'early Christian or medieval' in date, situated 12.5m S of window in S wall of church. (a) Slab (H 64cm) has Latin cross in relief on one face, with splayed arms and traces of semicircular base attached to the lower arm; on the other face is a sunken Latin cross with expanded terminals and pointed shaft; small Maltese cross cut into centre of top of stone. (b) Second stone stands nearby, disc-headed (H c. 51cm); incised lines on one face. This stone could not be found Jan. 1998. Further cross slab to W of church (13926); many others within church (13925).
