On E side of road, at S edge of Charleville town. Large triangular graveyard (c. 200m x c. 150m x c. 50m) bounded on two sides by public roads and on third side (NW) by field; enclosed by concrete walls. Incorporates, to N of centre, earlier rectangular (c. 50m NW-SE; c. 70m NE-SW) graveyard (as shown on 1842, 1904 and 1935 OS 6-inch maps) with ruin of Rathgogan parish church (14449) at its centre and holy well (14032) on N side. Numerous headstones noted; earliest dated to 1790s; interior of church crowded with grave plots; two roofed mausolea to SW of church.
