What is recorded here

In pasture, on gentle E-facing slope. Depicted as hachured semicircular arc S->N, abutting W side of N-S field boundary on 1842 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps. Circular area (23.5m E-W; 20m N-S) bisected by N-S field boundary (Wth 3.5m) with drain on each side. Interior enclosed on W side by earthen bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.7m) with external fosse (D 0.9m) and on E side by low earthen bank (int. H 0.18m; ext. H 0.55m) with shallow external fosse (D 0.25m). Breaks in bank to NW (Wth 1.5m and 1m). Interior to W planted with deciduous trees. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
