On the N bank of the Shannon estuary adjacent to Clonmoney townland. Described by O’Sullivan (2001, 304) as a ‘large V-shaped stone wall or causeway, c. 370m long, buried under silts between Inishcronan Point and Saint’s Island. The feature is depicted on the OS 6” second edition map Clare No. 61 (it is not marked on first edition) and Admiralty charts of the Shannon estuary (No. 1540). Function unknown; may be causeway to island, failed mudflat reclamation feature, fishtrap or tidal watermill. Observed from saltmarsh after completion of survey, March 1999.'
