On the E shore of Canon Island in the Fergus Estuary. Described by O’Sullivan et al. (2010) as follows: ‘On the eastern side of Canon Island, in proximity to Canon Abbey a number of stakes are located. The stakes are grouped together but don’t follow a distinct pattern. Among them are a triangular group of three stakes, and 10m or so west of this are 5 stakes very close together. There are alaso four single stakes. These stakes were likely used to hold nets or baskets to catch fish. A couple of hundred metres to the south, similar stakes have been dated to the 13th century, indicating that they may have been used by the inhabitants of Canon Abbey.’ (O’Sullivan et al. 2010, Appendix 1, 61, Canon Island 30)
