Described by O’Sullivan et al. (2010) as follows: ‘A double post alignment is preserved in the mudflats to the north of Deer Island, c. 100m from the HWM at the nearest point. It consists of, for the most part, a double line of fence posts and runs for 237m. The posts are 0.3m deep and 0.1m high. In some parts the structure only consists of one line of posts. The rows of posts are between 0.27m and 2m apart, averaging around 1m apart. It is not known what function it may have had and requires further study. A sample of wood was taken and was identified as ash. This returned a date of Cal. AD 18-131 (1924+/-27BP).’ (O’Sullivan et al. 2010, 33; Appendix 1, 72-3, Deer Island 25)
