Excavation in 2004 (Licence no. 04E0188) in advance of the N18 Ennis bypass revealed evidence of a probable post-medieval brick-clamp. The clamp is possibly associated with the nearby Manus House as it has brickwork erected in the later 18th/earlier 19th centuries. (Hull 2007, 41; Bermingham, Hull and Taylor 2012, 91-3)
